New Jersey Court Finds Anti-Injunction Act Bars Asbestos Class Action Against BASF

NEWARK, N.J. –– A New Jersey federal court has dismissed an asbestos class action with prejudice, ruling that the complaint, which accuses BASF and its former counsel of concealing and misrepresenting the asbestos content in talc products, is barred by the Anti-Injunction Act.
In the Dec. 12 opinion, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey found that it lacked the authority to grant the injunctive relief the class action lawsuit seeks.
