N.Y. Jury Awards $3 Million in Asbestos Case, Allocates 4 Percent Liability to Crane Co.

BUFFALO, N.Y. –– A upstate New York jury has awarded $3 million to a former maintenance worker, but allocated just four percent liability to lone remaining defendant Crane Co. (NYSE:CR).

The New York Supreme Court for the 8th Judicial District of Erie County jury reached the verdict on Oct. 23 after a three-week trial and two days of deliberations. Judge John Lane presided over the trial.

The claims were asserted on behalf of Gerald Suttner, who developed mesothelioma after maintenance and equipment repair work for 36 years at a GM plant allegedly exposed him to a number of asbestos-containing products. …
