Calif. Jurors Award More than $6.5 Million, but Decline to Award Punitive Damages in Asbestos Case

LOS ANGELES –– A California jury has awarded more than $6.5 million in economic and non-economic damages at the conclusion of a mesothelioma trial but declined to award any punitive damages, despite a finding that lone remaining defendant Crane Co. acted with malice, sources told HarrisMartin.

Sources said that the California Superior Court for Los Angeles County jury reached its verdict on Aug. 29 after a 4-week trial that was tried in two phases in front of Judge Kevin C. Brazile.
