TRENTON, N.J. — A New Jersey appellate court has affirmed a workers’ compensation award for an Exxon-Mobile chemical worker whose claim that her renal cell carcinoma was linked to workplace chemical exposure was contested by her employer.
The New Jersey Superior Court’s Appellate Division ruled July 30 that Retha Johnson was entitled to the $127,900 in partial total disability benefits awarded by the Division of Workers’ Compensation.
Johnson contended that she suffered an occupational injury from exposure to various chemicals while working as a chemical operator for Exxon from 1988 to 2004. She left work after being diagnosed with …
