Union Carbide Wins Retrial of Case Involving $322 Million Verdict




RALEIGH, Miss. -- Union Carbide has won a defense verdict in the retrial of a case that ended one year ago in a $322 million verdict but was later vacated after it was determined that the judge presiding over the trial had ties to asbestos litigation. Brown v. Phillips 66 Co., et al., No. n/a (Miss. Cir. Ct., Jones Cty.).

According to sources, a Mississippi Circuit Court for Jones County jury reached the verdict in favor of the defendant on April 25. Counsel for the plaintiffs told HarrisMartin that they intend to appeal the jury's recent decision.
