Miss. Jury Awards $1.5 Million in Drilling Mud Asbestos Case

LAUREL, Miss. -- A Mississippi jury has awarded a former oil field and rig worker $1.5 million for injuries he allegedly sustained as a result of exposure to asbestos in drilling mud, sources told HarrisMartin. Nix v. AGCO Corp., et al., No. 2010-85-CV8 (Miss. 2nd Jud. Dist. Ct., Jones Cty.).
The Mississippi 2nd Judicial District Court for Jones County jury reached the verdict on Oct. 11, finding lone remaining defendant Union Carbide liable for the former roughneck's development of mesothelioma.
Judge Billy Joe Landrum presided over the trial.
