Maryland Court Upholds $9 Million Asbestos Verdict, Evidence of Causation

BALTIMORE - A Maryland appeals court has upheld a more than $9 million verdict awarded to the family of a 34-year-old woman who died from mesothelioma, which was attributed to her exposure to joint compound her father used to renovate the family's home when she was a child. Georgia-Pacific Corp. v. Lisa J. Pransky, et al., No. 107 (Md. Ct. App.).
In a June 11 opinion upholding the Montgomery County Circuit Court verdict, the Maryland Court of Appeals said that sufficient evidence was presented during trial to show that Lisa Pransky's childhood exposure caused her disease.
