San Diego Jurors Award $2.4 Million, Allocate 5 Percent Liability to John Crane

SAN DIEGO -- Jurors in California have awarded $2.4 million to a California resident who claimed that his work with John Crane asbestos-containing products present on U.S. Naval ships caused him to develop mesothelioma. Mansir v. Air & Liquid Systems Corp., No. 37-2010-00104112-CU-AS-CTL (Calif. Super. Ct., San Diego Cty.).
On July 20, the California Superior Court for San Diego County jury allocated a prorated five percent liability to the lone remaining defendant after deliberating for four-and-a-half days. Judge Jeffrey B. Barton presided over the five-week trial.
