SAN FRANCISCO -- Jurors in California have awarded more than $41 million in an asbestos case, allocating 10.5 percent of liability to the remaining defendants, Kaiser Gypsum Co. Inc., and FDCC California Inc. Casey, et al., v. FDCC California Inc., et al., No. CGC-10-275517 (Calif. Super. Ct., San Francisco Cty.).
The judgment, entered May 12 by the California Superior Court for San Francisco County, noted that jurors found that there was a design defect in Kaiser Gypsum's joint compound and wallboard material products, and that this design defect was the cause of Casey's mesothelioma.
