N.Y. Jury Awards $1 Million in Asbestos Case, Allocates 60 Percent Liability to John Crane




SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A New York jury has awarded $1 million to the family of a former tugboat worker who was allegedly exposed to John Crane's gaskets for nearly 25 years, sources told HarrisMartin. Schuderer, et al. v. A.W. Chesterton Co., et al., No. 2008-8545 (N.Y. 5th Jud. Dist. Ct., Onondaga Cty.).

The New York 5th Judicial District Court for Onondaga County reached the verdict on Nov. 12, sources said. John Crane Inc. was the lone defendant remaining at the time of the verdict.

Judge James W. McCarthy presided over the trial.
