Jury Awards $1.6 Million in Case Involving Asbestos-Containing Auto Products

LOS ANGELES -- A California jury has entered a $1.6 million verdict in an asbestos case in which Ford Motor Co. and Navistar Inc. were the lone remaining defendants, sources told HarrisMartin. Harrell, et al. v. Allied Packing & Supply, et al., No. BC423696 (Calif. Super. Ct., Los Angeles Cty.).

The California Superior Court for Los Angeles County jury reached the verdict on Aug. 12, allocating 10 percent each to the two defendants.

The claims were asserted by William and Judy Harrell, who claimed that exposure to asbestos in brakes, clutches and gaskets manufactured and distributed by Ford Motor …
