FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - A jury in Florida has awarded $2 million to a retired air conditioning electrician who developed an asbestos-related illness after two years of on-the-job exposure. Zimmerman v. AC&S, Inc., No. 00-4228-27 (Fla. Cir. Ct., Broward Cty.).
The trial, which took place in Broward County Circuit Court, concluded Dec. 26 after 10 days before Judge O. Edgar Williams.
According to trial testimony, 71-year-old Ned Zimmerman was exposed to asbestos between 1960 and 1962 while installing pipe covering for air conditioning units at Orlando General Hospital.
