Oglebay Norton Co. Assessed 4 Percent of $50 Million Verdict

PITTSBURGH -- A Pennsylvania jury has determined that the surviving family members of a former steel worker allegedly exposed to asbestos are entitled to $2 million from Oglebay Norton, sources told HarrisMartin. Williams, et al. v. A.W. Chesterton Co., et al., No. 09-008703 (Pa. Ct. Comm. Pls., Allegheny Cty.).

On Jan. 29, the Court of Common Pleas for Allegheny County jury awarded a total of $50 million to the plaintiffs, assessing each defendant four percent each. While 25 total defendants were listed on the verdict sheet, only Oglebay Norton remained in the case when opening arguments began, sources said.
