Secondhand Exposure Trial Ends in $9.9 Million Verdict

BALTIMORE -- A Maryland jury has awarded $9.9 million in a secondhand exposure case, finding that the plaintiff's father's employer breached its duty to protect its workers, as well as their families. Conway v. ATTRANSCO, Inc., No. 24X08000102 (Md. Cir. Ct., Baltimore Cty.).
The Circuit Court for Baltimore County jury reached its verdict Jan. 26, concluding that ATTRANSCO, the owner and operator of an oil tanker upon which Leroy Conway Sr. worked, should have been aware of asbestos-related dangers.
