NEW YORK - G-I Holdings, Inc., which recently sought protection from asbestos claims in bankruptcy court, filed a federal lawsuit Jan. 10 against three prominent plaintiffs' firms, accusing them of engaging in an unethical, systematic assault on similarly situated asbestos defendants. G-I Holdings, Inc. v. Baron & Budd, et al., No. 1:01CV216 (S.D.N.Y.).
The 54-page complaint, filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, claims the plaintiffs, by unleashing an 'avalanche' of claims upon defendants such as G-I subsidiary GAF Corp. have made it nearly impossible for anyone faced with asbestos liability to evaluate legitimate claims …
