Jury Awards $12 Million; Crown, Cork & Seal Among the 13 Parties Held Liable

NEW ORLEANS –– Lone remaining defendant Crown, Cork & Seal will be one-thirteenth responsible for a $12 million verdict handed down by a Louisiana jury, sources told HarrisMartin. Schulte v. CBS Corp., et al., No. 2011-12718 (La. Dist. Ct., Orleans Prsh.).
The Louisiana District Court for Orleans Parish jury reached the verdict on June 28, apportioning liability amongst 13 parties. Judge Ethel S. Julien presided over the trial.
Sources told HarrisMartin that the jury was originally deadlocked at an 8-3 vote in favor of the plaintiff, with 9 required for a verdict. The jury ultimately reached the 9-2 vote it …
