Family of Former U.S. Navy Master Chief Receives $3.8 Million Verdict

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- A Virginia jury has awarded nearly $4 million to the surviving family members of a former Command Master Chief in the U.S. Navy, holding lone defendant John Crane 30 percent responsible for his mesothelioma. Sanders, et al. v. Owens Illinois Inc., et al., No. CL0800724PT (Va. Cir. Ct., City of Newport News).
The Circuit Court for the City of Newport News jury reached the verdict on June 15, awarding a total of $3,825,799.27, sources told HarrisMartin.
