Jury Awards $1.9 Million; Chrysler Files Bankruptcy During Trial

BALTIMORE -- A Maryland jury has found for a mesothelioma plaintiff at the conclusion of a brake case, during which Chrysler filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and, as a result, was not listed on the verdict form. Fitzgerald v. ACandS Inc., et al., No. 24x08000005 (Md. Cir. Ct., Baltimore Cty.).

Instead, the May 8 verdict was entered against the remaining brake defendants, Ford Motor and General Motors. General Motors did not file for bankruptcy until after the judgment was entered, sources said.

The trial was presided over by Judge John Glynn of the Maryland Circuit Court for Baltimore County
