Jury Awards $1.4 Million; Assesses 6 Percent Liability to 3 Defendants

LOS ANGELES -- A California jury has awarded more than $1.4 million in a mesothelioma case involving naval exposure, assessing the three remaining defendants a total of 6 percent liability, sources told HarrisMartin. Haupt, et al. v. A.W. Chesterton Co., et al., No. BC356535 (Calif. Super. Ct., Los Angeles Cty.).

The Los Angeles County Superior Court jury reached the verdict on April 21, after a three-week trial presided over by Judge Michael L. Stern. The jury deliberated for one-and-a-half days before returning the verdict against Crane Co., John Crane and Elliot Co.
