Widower Awarded $130,000 in Texas Take-Home Exposure Case Following $20 Mil. Demand

ANGLETON, Texas - Jurors in Texas have awarded $130,000 to a widower whose wife contracted mesothelioma after exposure to clothes the plaintiff wore home for 40 years while working in jobs where he was exposed to asbestos. Lonas v. Fluor Corp., No. 17656-JG01 (Texas Dist. Ct., Brazoria Cty., 239th Dist.).
The Oct. 24 verdict, which sources said will be offset entirely by settlement credits, was entered after plaintiff William Lonas sought some $20 million in damages from defendant Fluor Corp., the only defendant remaining at trial when the case went to the jury.
