Canadian Journal Publishes Call for International Asbestos Ban: Objectors Claim Collegium Ramazzini's Basis for a Ban Is Unsupported by Plea

icTendiche Collegium Ramazzini has renewed its plea for an outright international ban on the mining and use of asbestos, urging officials that safer industrial alternatives to the carcinogen exist.
In the Feb. 20 issue of the Canadian Medical Association Journal, several of the group's members contend that neither technology nor regulation in the workplace has proven effective in curbing the number of asbestos-related deaths around the globe.
'An immediate worldwide ban on the production and use of asbestos is long overdue, fully justified and absolutely necessary,' the Collegium members write.
