SAN FRANCISCO - A California jury on June 6 determined that a $6.6 million suit brought by Transport Insurance Co. against its reinsurer was not timely filed. Transport Insurance Co. v. TIG Insurance Co., No. 06-448898, Calif. Super. (San Francisco Co.).
On June 9, Judge Charlotte W. Woolard of the San Francisco County Superior Court adopted the jury's verdict, rendered in favor of TIG Insurance Co. Transport sought contribution from TIG for a multi-million dollar settlement of underlying pollution claims.
