Mississippi Judge Halves $100 Million Propulsid Verdict




PORT GIBSON, Miss. - The Mississippi judge who presided over the first trial of personal injury claims filed on behalf of those who used the recalled heartburn drug Propulsid has cut the $100 million verdict in half, according to attorneys involved in the case. Rankin, et al. v. Janssen Pharmaceutica, et al., No. n/a (Miss. Cir., Claiborne Cty.).

Janssen Pharmaceutica attorney Robert Johnson III of Natchez, Miss., said Tuesday that in a ruling from the bench on March 4, Judge Lamar Pickard reduced the verdict to $48 million.
