NEW YORK - Lloyd's of London is urging a New York federal judge to deny a motion to remand by B.D. Cooke & Partners Inc. and compel arbitration of the $1.9 million dispute over reinsurance recoverables. B.D. Cooke & Partners Ltd. v. Certain Underwriters at Lloyd's London, No. 1:08-cv-03435 (S.D. N.Y.).
In its June 5 brief, Lloyd's says the action was properly removed to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York pursuant to the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards.
