American Home Products Reaches Settlement in Tainted Arthritis Drug Case

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Parties in a case that alleged an arthritis drug was contaminated with a beta blocker, causing the plaintiff to suffer from an overdose of beta blockers, have a reached a confidential settlement. Warman v. American Home Products Corp., No. 01-3146-CV-C-5 (W.D. Mo.).
The settlement closes the nation's first case involving a tainted batch of the American Home Product arthritis drug Lodine (Etodolac), though plaintiffs' attorney Tim Van Ronzelen said he expects more cases to follow.
