Interest Calculation Begins with Initial Verdict, California Appeals Court Rules

SAN DIEGO - A California appeals court has ruled that the post-judgment interest owed to a plaintiff should be calculated from the entry date of the initial jury verdict, affirming a lower court's previous decision. Ehret v. Congoleum Corp., No. B141773 (Calif. Ct. App., 2nd. Dist., Div. 4).

In its Feb. 21 opinion, the court rejected the defendant's claim that interest began running after an earlier appeal to the same court resulted in what the defendant perceived as a full reversal of the verdict.
