LOS ANGELES -- A benzene defendant has filed a summary judgment motion seeking dismissal of the claims asserted against the company, contending that after three years of discovery, the plaintiffs have yet to present evidence indicating a causal link between the alleged injury and the defendant's product. Loyola, et al. v. Union Oil Co., et al., No. BC280498 (Calif. Super. Ct., Los Angeles Cty.).

Univar USA Inc. filed the summary judgment motion on Nov. 29 in the California Superior Court for Los Angeles County, contending that the plaintiffs had yet to link a Univar chemical to the decedent's injuries.
