Transfer in Benzene Lawsuit Involving Cosmetics Industry Becomes Official

OAKLAND, Calif. -- An order transferring a benzene case filed against the cosmetics industry from Oakland to Santa Clara, Calif., has become official. Hopkins, et al. v. Alberto-Culver USA Inc., et al., No. RG05194245 (Calif. Super. Ct., Alameda Cty.).

The order signed on April 27 by Judge Ronald M. Sabraw was entered in the California Superior Court for Alameda County on July 12.

Judge Sabraw transferred the claims of plaintiff Roxie Lynn Hopkins to the Santa Clara County Superior Court. Hopkins claims that her work as a cosmetologist exposed her to more than 500 harmful products, including those containing benzene.
