LOS ANGELES -- A California state court judge has granted a benzene defendant's demurrer to the plaintiffs' first amended complaint, but allowed the plaintiffs leave to amend the lawsuit. Loyola, et al. v. Union Oil Co., et al., No. BC280498 (Calif. Super. Ct., Los Angeles Cty.).

According to notice of rulings filed by both Neville Chemical Co. and plaintiffs Xavier and Cordelia Loyola, Judge Mary Thornton House of the Los Angeles Superior Court entered an order sustaining Neville Chemical's motion to dismiss, with 20 days leave to amend.
