Court Rejects Plaintiffs' Oppositions to Peremptory Challenge, Transfers Benzene Proceedings

LOS ANGELES -- A California Court has rejected opposition to a motion to transfer benzene proceedings, ruling that the defendant's peremptory challenge was timely filed and the case should be transferred to another judge. Loyola, et al. v. Union Oil Co. of California, et al., No. BC280498 (Calif. Super. Ct., Los Angeles Cty.).

In a March 1 order, the Los Angeles Superior Court transferred the underlying proceedings to the court's first department for reassignment.

Univar USA Inc. claimed in its Feb. 15 motion that Judge Irving S. Feffer was prejudiced against the company, as well as its counsel.
