NEW ORLEANS –– Parties in a Louisiana asbestos case have exchanged post-trial briefing in the wake of a $7.75 million verdict, with the plaintiffs maintaining that the jury erroneously attributed liability for the decedent’s mesothelioma to Owens-Illinois.

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana jury reached the verdict on Nov. 8, at the conclusion of a trial during which Ethyl Corp. was the lone remaining defendant, sources told HarrisMartin. The Hon. Eldon E. Fallon presided over the trial, which ended in a verdict after approximately three hours of deliberations by jurors.
