Wash. Court Refuses to Issue Protective Order, Asks Asbestos Plaintiffs to Amend Deposition Notice Instead

TACOMA, Wash. –– A Washington federal court has declined to grant a motion for protective order in an asbestos case, but ordered the plaintiffs to amend their notice of deposition after it found its original requests were overbroad and unduly burdensome.
“The parties’ reliance on the court for discovery in this case has been extraordinary, and it is the Court’s hope that the parties can finish discovery with minimal additional Court involvement,” the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington wrote in its Aug. 7 order.
