Imerys Talc Opposes Requests of Insurers to Access Tort-Claim Documents Relating to Talc Cases

WILMINGTON, Del. –– Imerys Talc America Inc. has opposed a request from excess insurers of Cyprus to access tort-claim documents produced in the former’s company’s ongoing bankruptcy proceedings, calling the requests “overbroad,” and unjustified.

In a July 10 motion filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, the Cyprus Historical Excess Insurers said that Rule 2004 obligates the Debtors to provide them with equal access to the tort-claim documents that have been provided to the Official Committee of Tort Claimants and the Future Claims Representative.
