Zimmer Biomet Holdings Dismissed from Va. Federal Hip Implant Case

ABINGDON, Va. — A Virginia federal judge has dismissed for lack of jurisdiction claims asserted against Zimmer Biomet Holdings Inc. in a hip implant case, finding the company does not have sufficient contacts with the state that provide the basis for the plaintiff’s complaint.
In a June 26 order, Judge James P. Jones of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virgina also held that the sum the plaintiff seeks for punitive damages must be capped at $350,000 pursuant to state law.
