Plaintiffs File Petition for Creation of MDL Docket for First American Data Breach Claims

WASHINGTON, D.C. –– Plaintiffs with data breach claims pending against First American Financial Corporation have filed a petition to create a coordinated multidistrict litigation docket for cases relating to the company’s failure to protect confidential information of “millions of consumers nationwide.”

According to the petition, filed June 13 in the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation, the data breach was announced on May 24.

Since the announcement from First American Financial Corporation, First American Title Co., and/or First American Title Insurance Co., that 885 million records related to mortgage deals dating back more than 15 years had been compromised, more …
