N.C. Federal Judge Says Evidence Supported $32.7 Million Verdict Against Covil

GREENSBORO, N.C. – A North Carolina federal judge has refused to overturn a $32.7 million asbestos verdict issued against Covil Inc., ruling that the evidence supported the jury’s finding that the company sold asbestos-containing insulation products at a time when it knew they were dangerous, yet failed to warn users.

In a May 1 order, Judge Catherine C. Eagles of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina further held that Covil’s failure to warn proximately caused the death of a man who worked around asbestos-insulated pipes for several years on a daily basis.
