N.Y. Court Rejects Aurora Pumps’ Jurisdiction Challenges in Asbestos Lung Cancer Case

NEW YORK –– A New York court has rejected jurisdiction challenges asserted by Aurora Pump Co. in an asbestos lung cancer case, concluding in part that the acts of the defendant occurred in the state and are alleged to have resulted in the injury and death of the plaintiff.

In the March 21 opinion, the New York Supreme Court for New York County further found that the state had not relinquished all jurisdiction over Governors Island –– where the alleged exposure occurred –– when it ceded title of the location to the United States Government.
