Calif. Jury Awards $29.5 Million at Conclusion of Asbestos Cosmetic Talc Trial Against J&J

OAKLAND, Calif. –– California jurors have awarded $29,491,000 at the conclusion of an asbestos cosmetic talcum powder case against Johnson & Johnson, accepting the plaintiff’s claims that the company’s talc products caused her to develop mesothelioma, HarrisMartin Publishing is reporting.

The California Superior Court for Alameda County jury reached its verdict on March 13 after more than six weeks of trial. The case was the first asbestos-related cosmetic talcum powder case to proceed to trial against Johnson & Johnson in Alameda County.

The verdict included $291,000 in economic damages for past medical expenses; $1 million for economic damages …
