Zurich American Insurance Files Complaint for Declaratory Judgment, Seeks Declaration of Limits Related to $32 Million Verdict

GREENSBORO, N.C. –– Zurich American Insurance has filed a complaint for declaratory judgment, asking a court to judicially declare the limits of its insurance coverage in connection with an asbestos personal injury lawsuit in which a $32.7 million.

In the Nov. 6 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina, the insurance company said it is prepared to pay the full $250,000 limits, which it says is consistent with the obligations under the policy language.

The underlying claims relate to commercial general liability insurance policies issued by Zurich to Covil in the 1970s. …
