FLORENCE, S.C. –– A butter flavorings manufacturer has filed motions to dismiss personal injury lawsuits, arguing that its “episodic” sales to a plant in South Carolina is not enough to confer jurisdiction over the defendant.

In motions to dismiss filed Oct. 12 in separate flavorings personal injury suits pending in the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, the defendant maintained that the plaintiffs failed to establish sufficient minimum contacts with the state.
