Fla. Resident Files Complaint in State Court, Says Nearly 4 Decades of Talcum Powder Use Caused Ovarian Cancer

TAMPA, Fla. –– A Florida resident has filed a talcum powder complaint in state court, contending that her use of talcum powder products for nearly 40 years caused her to develop ovarian cancer.

Plaintiff Katherine A. Bentrud filed the complaint on Sept. 17 in the Florida 13th Judicial Circuit Court, including Johnson & Johnson, Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc., Imerys Talc America, and Publix Super Markets Inc. as defendants to the matter.

Bentrud said in the lawsuit that she used Baby Powder and Shower-to-Shower talcum powder products from approximately 1980 to her diagnosis of ovarian cancer in January 2018.
