Imerys Talc America Files Objections to Asbestos Talc Suit, Says Jurisdiction Lacking

PITTSBURGH –– In preliminary objections filed in an asbestos talc suit, defendant Imerys Talc America Inc. maintains that the plaintiffs have failed to assert any basis on which the Pennsylvania state court can exercise jurisdiction, according to a recent filing.

In a July 26 brief filed in the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas for Allegheny County, Imerys Talc noted that it is not incorporated and does not have a principal place of business in Pennsylvania. As such, the defendant maintained, it is not “at home” in the state.
