Wash. Court Rejects Post-Trial Motions from Both Sides in Asbestos Case, Finds No Fault with $1 Million Verdict

SEATTLE –– A Washington federal court has denied post-trial motions from both sides in an asbestos case, in part rejecting the plaintiff’s insistence that the $1 million award was “grossly inadequate,” when compared to a $10 million award in the first trial that was later reversed.

In a June 4 order, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington additionally rejected Scapa Dryer Fabrics Inc.’s motion for judgment as a matter of law, finding substantial evidence to support the jury’s verdict.
