Howmedica Seeks to Retain Treating Physicians as Witnesses in Stryker LFIT MDL

BOSTON — Howmedica Osteonics Corp. has asked the judge overseeing the Stryker LFIT V40 Femoral Head multidistrict litigation docket to allow it to communicate ex parte with plaintiffs’ treating doctors for the limited purpose of finding and retaining expert witnesses.

In a May 24 motion filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, HOC argued that it is difficult to retain expert witnesses from a limited pool of highly specialized surgeons, and that such an order will make it easier to do so.
