Mistrial Declared in South Carolina Trial Involving Asbestos Cosmetic Talcum Powder Claims Against J&J, Rite Aid

DARLINGTON, S.C. āā A mistrial has been declared in a trial against Johnson & Johnson and Rite Aid in which the plaintiffs alleged that a user of J&Jās Baby Powder developed mesothelioma as a result of exposure to asbestos fibers in the talcum powder products.
Judge Jean Toal of the South Carolina 4th Judicial Circuit Court for Darlington County declared the mistrial on May 25 after the jury informed her that they could only make a determination as to the claims against Rite Aid, according to published reports.
