N.J. Jury Awards Plaintiffs $68 Million in C.R. Bard Transvaginal Mesh Case




HACKENSACK, N.J. — A New Jersey state jury awarded a plaintiff in a C.R. Bard pelvic mesh case $33 million in compensatory damages and $35 million in punitive damages after determining that the company did not warn the plaintiff’s surgeon of the device’s potential risks.

The jury handed down the compensatory damages verdict on April 12 following a four-week trial presided over by Judge James DeLuca. The plaintiff was awarded $23 million and her husband $10 million. The trial then proceeded to the punitive damages phase, which the jury decided on April 13.
