Hurricane Flood Plaintiffs in Florida, U.S. Islands Seek Coordinated MDL for Coverage Lawsuits

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Plaintiffs who have brought federal lawsuits as a result of damage caused by the 2016 and 2017 hurricane seasons have filed a petition seeking consolidation of all similar claims pending in Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

In a motion filed April 4 with the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation, counsel currently representing hundreds of plaintiffs who have sued insurers after having their hurricane-related claims either denied or insufficiently covered requested that the claims be consolidated in Southern Florida.
