Applied Underwriters Reinsurer Appealing Calif. Court’s Confirmation of Arbitration Award

LOS ANGELES — Applied Underwriters Captive Risk Assurance Company Inc. is appealing a California federal judge’s confirmation of an arbitration award declaring that a reinsurance participation agreement is void because it was not filed with the state insurance department.

AUCRA has asked the 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals to review a Dec. 19 order by the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California that the arbitrator did not manifestly disregard the law in issuing the award.
