Calif. Appeals Court Reinstates $4.5 Million Verdict in Profemur Hip Case

LOS ANGELES - A California appellate court has reinstated a $4.5 million verdict in a Profemur hip replacement device case, ruling that the trial court did not sufficiently state its reasons for granting Wright Medical Technology's motion for a new trial on the damages issue.

On March 6, the California Court of Appeal, 2nd District, also rejected Wright's argument that it is entitled to a new trial on plaintiffs' claim that the system's stem was defectively manufactured, finding the evidence supported the jury's findings.
