Ga. Federal Court Sends $1 Million Reinsurance Action to Arbitration

ATLANTA - A Georgia federal judge has granted an agreed motion to arbitrate a $1 million reinsurance dispute filed by the special deputy receiver of Gramercy Insurance Co. against a New Zealand insurer.

On Feb. 23, Judge William S. Duffey Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia stayed the action pending completion of arbitration proceedings.

Gramercy and New Zealand insurer Contractor's Bonding Ltd. entered into a reinsurance agreement pursuant to a reinsurance program involving Danish insurer Topdanmark Livsforsikring A/S.
